Abstract

|
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the characteristics between the mild cognitive impairment (MCI) group and the normal cognitive function group through propensity score matching (PSM).
Methods: This study was a secondary data analysis research using the 4th Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) of the Korea Employment Information Service. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, 2-test with the SPSS 23.0 program.
Results: After PSM, with regard to cerebrovascular disease (2=15.00, p£¼.001), psychiatric disease (2=8.69, p=.003), fall history (2=10.17, p=.001), perceived health status (2=79.98, p£¼.001), regular exercise (2=10.38, p=.001), regular diet (2=9.78, p=.002), neighborhood relationship (2=27.87, p£¼.001), participation in small groups (2=55.31, p£¼.001), cultural life (2=7.65, p=.006), living with their spouse (2=6.50, p=.011), intimacy with their children (2=13.35, p=.004), depression (2=11.21, p=.001), life satisfaction (2=79.27, p£¼.001) and perceived socioeconomic status (2=39.07, p£¼.001) were statistically significant differences between MCI group and normal cognitive function group, respectively.
Conclusion: These findings could help manage MCI and prevent dementia in the community.
